Vietoria., 19th September, 1844

In accordance with your wish, I have maturely considered the amount of augmentation which would render the Hindostance Police force perfectly efficient, and capable of affording as much protection as the present condition of the Town will admit.

I am of opinion that an increase of one Naick, and ten men would be sufficient for this purpose.

(Signed) I. Bruce, Captain Superintendent of Police

The Honble Major Caine,

        to.
